The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) on March 26 said they are joining forces in their COVID-19 pandemic response efforts to help ensure the reliability of the nation’s energy transmission and distribution systems.

USDA Rural Development on March 25 said it has taken several actions to help rural residents, businesses and communities affected by the COVID-19 outbreak including changes to the Rural Utility Service (RUS) program for rural electric services.
The U.S. Senate on March 25 voted 96-0 to pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Among other things, the bill provides an additional $900 million for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
