Kansas Power Pool - Engineering/Operations Intern

August 26, 2021

Kansas Power Pool is actively and enthusiastically seeking an intern to join our Engineering and Operations department.  An upper division, or recently graduated, college student will likely be an ideal fit.  Of course, we think that ideal arrangement will be reciprocal.  The intern period will commence as soon as practically possible and conclude on December 31, 2021.

Fundamental duties would be to assist in performing a variety of engineering and operations tasks, including data analysis to support electric load and cost forecasts for purposes of budgeting, modeling, and generation offers.  Additional duties could be project engineering support including tracking scheduling, ordering materials, and monitoring contractor performance; Information Technology (IT) support of remote metering and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.  Finally also, the providing of engineering and technical assistance to our Member communities to troubleshoot, maintain and improve electric metering, distribution and transmission facilities; and providing research and analysis to support acquisition of transmission service and regulatory activities.

It is expected the successful candidate would immediately report to KPP’s Director of Engineering Services.

Respectful of your class schedule and class load, the internship could be either more or less than 30 working hours per week.  KPP can be flexible on that front in pursuit of the right person.  Compensation would be considered carefully but with a minimum of $15/hour.
